아동권리 모니터링 프로그램이 아동의 권리의식·권리활동, 개인적 능력, 사회적 관계에 미치는 영향
Effect of Monitoring Program for Children's Rights on Recognition of Rights, Personal Ability, and Social Relations of Children
초록
본 연구는 아동권리 모니터링프로그램이 아동의 권리의식․권리활동, 개인적 능력, 사회적 관계에 미치는 영향에 대하여 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해, 강원도 18개 시군에서 아동권리모니터링활동에 참여한 학생 116명과 비참여학생 108명을 비교집단으로 선정하고 설문조사를 실시하여 권리의식·권리활동(가정에서의 권리의식, 학교에서의 권리의식, 사회에서의 권리활동), 개인적 능력(리더십기술, 문제해결능력, 자아존중감), 사회적 관계(사회적 책임감, 집합적 효능감)에 차이가 있는지를 분석하였다. 두 집단 간의 평균점수 t-test 결과, 집합적 효능감을 제외한 모든 항목에서 모니터링프로그램 참여집단이 비참여집단보다 통계적으로 유의미하게 높은 점수를 보였다. 아동권리활동프로그램에 참여한 학생들에게는 자기주도적 참여형으로 구성된 프로그램의 아동권리교육, 권리침해사례 및 위해환경 모니터링활동, 캠페인, 정책제안, 동료와의 소집단활동, 네트워크활동이 유익했던 것으로 여겨진다. 본 연구의 의의는 아동이 주체적으로 참여한 아동대상 모니터링프로그램의 효과성을 입증하여 아동권리증진 프로그램을 제공하는 기관에 실증적인 정보를 제공한 점이다. 연구결과를 바탕으로, 아동권리프로그램의 활성화를 위한 실천적, 정책적 방안을 제안하였다.
This study intended to investigate the effect of the children's monitoring program for children's rights on recognition of rights, personal ability, and social relations of the children. The subjects were 116 students who participated in the children's monitoring program for children's rights and 108 students who didn't participate in the program for the comparison group in Gangwon-Do. The monitoring program included regional and province children's congress, children's forum, school liaison, visiting oversea's fields, and cultural visits. The survey method was used to get the data on demographic information and dependent variables. For analyses, t-tests were used to compare the means of the measures between two groups. According to the results, participant group showed higher mean scores in rights recognition at home, in school, social activities for rights, leadership skills, problem-solving ability, and social responsibility than those of non-participant group. However, there was no difference in mean scores of collective efficacy. It seems that self-initiative, participatory program format with education on children's rights, monitoring activities for right-violating cases and harmful environments, campaign, policy recommendation activities was helpful for the participants. This study is meaningful in that it provides the field agencies with useful information on the monitoring program for children's rights. Based on the study results, several recommendations to expand children's monitoring program for the children's rights were suggested.
